Terms of Service
The practical rules for creating and sharing a little universe with Cosmic Post.
Last updated: September 7, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to Cosmic Post at cosmicpost.lol, including its card and collage tools. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Cosmic Post. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
2. What Cosmic Post does
We match the date you choose to an entry in NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) archive and offer a personalized card or family collage. An APOD date is a publication date, not a guarantee that the image was captured on your date. If the exact year is unavailable, we show a nearest available year and explain the match.
The messages and results are for personal expression, education, and enjoyment. They do not predict events or provide scientific, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
3. Free digital service
Card creation and digital downloads are currently free and require no account. We do not sell physical prints, process payments, or offer paid subscriptions. A download is a digital image, not a physical product or a guarantee of suitability for professional printing.
If we introduce paid services, their prices and applicable purchase, cancellation, and refund terms will be presented before you buy. Purchases from independent retailers are governed by that retailer’s terms.
4. Names, birthdays, and sharing
Only enter information you are entitled to use and share. Get permission where needed, particularly when creating a family collage or using a child’s details. Nicknames are welcome.
Individual result links contain the chosen date and occasion. The optional name on an individual card stays in your browser and the image you save or share. Family result and edit links contain the names and full birthdays you enter. Anyone with a family link can see and forward those details; links are not private accounts or access-controlled galleries.
You keep any rights you have in your own text. You permit us to process it only as needed to produce and deliver the result you request. Saving or sharing through your device or another service is your choice and is subject to that service’s terms.
5. Image rights and attribution
NASA and APOD do not sponsor, approve, or endorse Cosmic Post. Astronomy images, videos, and source explanations remain subject to their owners’ rights and applicable rules. Not every APOD image is public domain, and a missing copyright label is not proof of permission.
The availability of a download does not grant a license to third-party imagery. Check the original APOD entry and obtain any permission required for your use, including public posting, commercial use, printing, or resale. Preserve any copyright markings in the source image and provide attribution where required. See Image rights and credits.
6. Acceptable use
- Do not use the service to break the law, infringe rights, impersonate others, harass someone, or expose their private information.
- Do not attempt to bypass security controls, upload malicious content, interfere with the service, or generate automated traffic that disrupts availability.
- Do not suggest that Cosmic Post, NASA, an image creator, or another person endorses your product or message without permission.
We may restrict abusive access or remove access to material when reasonably necessary to protect users, rights holders, or the service.
7. Age and supervision
The service is intended for adults and people aged 16 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use it with a parent or guardian’s permission. A parent or guardian should create cards on behalf of younger children and decide what details to share.
8. Availability and responsibility
We aim to keep Cosmic Post useful and available, but the archive, image hosts, browsers, and sharing services can change or become unavailable. Results may contain errors, and a date match or successful download cannot be guaranteed. Keep your own copy of anything you want to retain.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without additional warranties. We are not responsible for third-party services or losses caused by uses outside the service’s intended purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including fraud or mandatory consumer protections.
9. Changes and disputes
We may update these terms when the service or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be brought to users’ attention where required; updates do not remove rights relating to earlier use.
Any dispute remains subject to the applicable law and courts, including mandatory protections available where you live. These terms do not require arbitration or waive your right to bring an eligible complaint or court claim.
