NASA archive, many image creators

Cosmic Post uses NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day archive. It is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by NASA. APOD features work from NASA and many other photographers, observatories, and institutions.

Many NASA-created images are generally available for reuse under NASA’s guidelines, but third-party work can carry separate copyrights or license conditions. Missing copyright metadata does not establish permission. NASA and APOD cannot grant permission for someone else’s copyrighted work.

Before posting, printing, or selling

Open the original APOD link on the result page, read the credit line, and follow the creator’s terms. Obtain any permission required for your intended use, especially public posting, commercial promotion, printing, or resale. Cosmic Post does not grant third-party image rights or guarantee commercial eligibility.

Keep any copyright markings already in the image. Include the creator credit and source link where required. The clean individual PNG places source details on the webpage; downloading it does not remove attribution obligations. When sharing, include the source credit and result or original APOD link alongside the image as appropriate.

Dates and source information

A match refers to the day an image was published in APOD, not when a telescope or camera captured it. A nearest-year result retains your chosen occasion date on the card and shows the actual APOD date on the webpage. Consult the original entry for complete context and credits.
