NASA APOD birthday finder
The same birthday has up to 32 APOD entries, one for each year since 1995, so your birth year decides which one is yours. Enter the full date and Cosmic Post checks for that exact publication first, then the nearest available year.

How it works
An APOD birthday search uses the full publication date, including the year. Cosmic Post checks for that exact entry first, then uses the nearest available year for the same calendar day if needed. The result shows the requested date and the real publication date separately, along with the archive title, image story, credit, and a link to the original APOD explanation. You can also explore other available years for the day.
Cosmic Post is an independent, free web tool for birthday, anniversary and milestone cards using NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day archive. The project was previously called Luminary. It is not operated or endorsed by NASA. Dates match APOD publication dates, with clearly labeled alternatives when the exact entry is unavailable. Add a name, choose a greeting and save a 1080 × 1350 PNG without an account.
Questions
The same month and day can have a different APOD entry in each year. Your birth year lets us look for the actual publication date first rather than choosing a year for you.
We look for the nearest available year for the same calendar day. If no calendar-day match exists, we show another archive entry and explain that it is an alternative. The publication date stays visible on the result and saved card.
February 29 has 8 APOD entries, one for each leap year from 1996 to 2024. A leap-day birthday in one of those years gets its exact entry; otherwise Cosmic Post uses the nearest available leap year and labels the match.
The result offers available alternative still images explicitly, without changing the original discovery. Choose a still, add a name and greeting, and download your card for free.
Yes. The earlier project was called Luminary and used bapod.vercel.app. Its current name and home are Cosmic Post at cosmicpost.lol. Cosmic Post is independent of NASA. Individual cards now download as 1080 × 1350 PNGs.
